On June 25, a deliberately lit fire destroyed a charity shop and warehouse in California Gully near Bendigo, Victoria. The Bendigo Advertiser selected two of my photos for the Monday 28/06/2010 edition, and another for the Tuesday 29/06/2010 edition. This was the first outing for my new Pentax K-7 DSLR, however the first and third shots here were taken with the Pentax K20D + Sigma 70-200/2.8 HSM II (for the record the second shot was with the K-7 + Pentax DA* 16-50/2.8 SDM). Photos and a video below the fold...

Last week was Orientation Week ("O Week" for short) at my university, and once again I was asked by the Bendigo Student Association to photograph some of the major social events. Here's four shots which were published in today's Bendigo Advertiser...
The highlight of O Week for many students (new, current, or former!) is the Mystery Tour, held on the Thursday night, which kicks off at the university before the buses depart. This year there were six buses, each giving students a guided tour of Bendigo's various pubs, clubs, and bars. Each bus has a 'theme', and unlike previous years where the theme was just a colour, this time the themes really gave the students a chance to come up with some... unique... styles! The themes were Back to School, 80's Rockstars, Doctors & Nurses, Hawaii Five-O, Hookers & Deviants, and Superheroes, and most participants went to great lengths to dress appropriately (or inappropriately in the case of the hookers and deviants.)

Everything was shot with the K20D (see equipment), DA★ 16-50/2.8 lens, and hotshoed AF540FGZ flash. Half of the inside area has a white tile roof so I bounced the flash off that where I could.
